I\u2019m a communications strategist, storyteller, interviewer, and multimedia creator with a background in nonprofit communications, marketing, visual design, and audience engagement. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Feminist Studies from UC Santa Barbara, with minors in Black Studies and Theater, where much of my academic work focused on power, representation, media, and the ways stories shape how people understand one another.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In some ways, I grew up in marketing. My mother was a small-business owner, and I spent much of my childhood around the practical work of building something people had to notice, understand, trust, and choose. That early exposure grew into more than 15 years of experience creating visual communications and promotional materials, followed by broader work across social media, editorial writing, press releases, email campaigns, websites, video, and brand storytelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The part of the work I\u2019m most drawn to is people. I love interviewing someone and finding the moment when they stop giving the polished answer and start talking about what they actually care about. You can see the shift when they begin explaining why their work matters. My job is to recognize that moment, understand why it matters to the audience, and build the story around it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That also means handling people\u2019s stories carefully. I prioritize consent, fact-checking, context, and human dignity, especially when the subject matter is sensitive or personal, political, painful, or easily sensationalized. I want the final story to be compelling without becoming exploitative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My approach to communications starts with a principle I\u2019ve learned repeatedly through nonprofit and promotional work: your audience has to agree with your diagnosis before they will agree to your solution.<\/strong> Before asking people to donate, attend, subscribe, advocate, buy, volunteer, or change their minds, I want to understand what they already believe. What matters to them? What are they worried about? What language feels natural to them? Where is the gap between what an organization knows about itself and what its audience understands?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is why I work closely with nonprofit leaders and clients before I start producing. I want to understand the organization\u2019s history, culture, current priorities, and the people it is trying to reach. From there, I can shift tone and format depending on the audience, whether the project calls for an informational article, a sensitive interview, an energetic Reel, a fundraising message, a press release, or a longer-form narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My visual and production work follows the same philosophy. I edit both vertical social video and longer-form interviews, episodes, and podcasts, with experience producing multimedia work for organizations including Birth of Reason and the Phoenix Pageant Podcast, as well as communications and newsletter work for Santa Barbara nonprofits including LifeChronicles and New Beginnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in my career, I worked at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World through several Disney internship programs. I received multiple leadership recognitions and was later selected to represent Disney\u2019s internship programs as an ambassador at colleges throughout California. That experience gave me an early education in audience experience, brand standards, communication, leadership, and the amount of coordination required to make something feel effortless to the person experiencing it.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
